After many years of being a big fan Wayne Meeten’s work, we have come together and are happy to present the Meeten Fluting Hammer!

In his post graduate year of 1998, Wayne traveled to Tokyo and was accepted at the Finest Art University in Japan: The Tokyo University Of Fine Arts and Music.

He ventured there to predominantly learn Mokume Gane under living National Treasure Hirotoshi Ito ,and Norio Tamagawa. While there, he was immersed into many other techniques, one of which has become synonymous with his work - "Japanese hammer fluting".

On his return, he brought back several Japanese style hammers, which he uses to create the fine ridges and flowing patterns that have become his signature style.

The Meeten Fluting Hammer is a refined version of those hammers.

Each head is hand forged with a shallow bell on the larger faces, and a slightly tighter radius on the smaller faces. All the heads are brought to a mirror polish with nicely softened edges to safeguard against an arrant blow.

The osage orange handles provide strength and durability, with a tiny bit of spring to give life to the hammer swing, while easing the wear and tear on your body. The smooth and ergonomic shaping offers exquisite control and comfort.

The five sizes are:

(Large face, and weight)

XS - 1/2" (13mm) 50g

S - 5/8" (16mm) 85g

M - 3/4" (19mm) 150g

L - 7/8" (22mm 250g

XL - 1" (25mm) 350g

"These hammers are perfection to hold. The balance of each hammer is beautifully aligned to produce the exacting, refined fluting marks that I create, which has become my signature style.

From small to large, they will help you to master an array of different hammer tones across all designs that you wish to create and make."

I endorse them wholeheartedly.
Yours, Wayne Victor Meeten. MA.FIPG
